European Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou at Cyprus’ first multilingual radio station
The interview was held during the new radio show of MYCYradio entitled “One-on-One – Conversations that Matter”. The weekly show is hosted by Michalis Simopoulos from CCMC, and features in-depth interviews with special guests about current issues and events, in English. The show also invites listeners to send their questions and comments via social media platforms such as Twitter. The first show hosted Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou who spoke about Europe in the midst of crisis, the state of multilingualism in Europe, and the future opportunities for youth.
“We have to pay special attention to the young people”, said Commissioner Vassiliou. “We have to make them feel that they are part of the society, and that we listen to them. They need to be heard by policymakers … because we see that it is absolutely necessary for citizens to be heard”.
