CRAOL first Media Literacy conference
On Saturday 29th March, Craol held its first Media Literacy Conference.
The event focused on a number of different issues related to the importance of media literacy, including the relationship between democracy and media literacy, media ownership and the impact of media on political attitudes. The conference was chaired by Irena Cvetkovic, of Athlone Community Radio, and featured contributions from Emer Costello MEP, Paschal Donohue TD, Vincent Browne (Journalist) , Harry Browne (Journalist and lecturer in the School of Media DIT), & Frank Connolly (Journalist/ SIPTU). Craol has been to the fore in promoting media literacy for over ten years and is currently running a trial of a new Craol QQI (formerly FETAC) Level 5 in Media Analysis Course as a Train the Trainers project.
